You will go through various considerations before taking the final decision to change the job. There could be several reasons for you to change the job, it could be due to your personal growth, company growth, culture or so many other factors. New opportunity has arisen in your area of expertise
If you are in an area of expertise, you will have the first mover advantage. This means that you will have some edge over others in the same area of expertise. When you have an edge, you will get opportunities that others will not get. If you have been in your job for at least 2 years, it is time to look for a new opportunity in your area of expertise. If you find an opportunity, you must take it otherwise you might not get another chance like this in the near future. You never know when the company you are working for is going to take a downturn. You don’t want to be in the company when this happens. If you are in a field that is growing, and you find an opportunity in the same field, then you should definitely take it.
There is a major mismatch between what you want to do and what you are doing now
You may be doing something that you don’t like. If this continues, you will not be happy in your job. There is a major mismatch between what you want to do and what you are doing now. The working environment at the organization must be conducive for work. If the work environment is not conducive, it is better to change the job. If you are not appreciated or recognized for your work, it is time to change your job. Appreciation is fuel to do more and give your best. Even after putting all that extra effort and time to deliver the best, if your company doesn’t recognize your potential or your ideas it is time to move on. Identify your potential and make sure you are getting recognized for what you are doing and given equal opportunities to grow. You should be able to see your career and professional growth in the company, if not it is time to change.

If you have been in the same position for 10 years, it is time to change the job. Having been in the same role for more than 5 years, it is time to change the job.
